ITINERARY
Delight in a full-day tour of Bac Ha Market and a serene Chay River cruise. Interact with local ethnic communities, explore vibrant markets, and enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine. Includes guided tours, transportation, and lunch. Ideal for a memorable Sunday adventure.
Morning:
Arrival and Breakfast: Upon your arrival at Lao Cai station, you will be greeted by our local guide and driver. Optionally, enjoy a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant to start your day.
Drive to Bac Ha: We embark on a scenic drive to Bac Ha town. The journey from Lao Cai to Bao Nhai bridge is relatively flat. After crossing the bridge, we ascend to Bac Ha, where you will witness the stunning landscapes and get a glimpse of local life.
Bac Ha Market: Arrive at Bac Ha market, the largest market in the region, located in the heart of Bac Ha town. Every Sunday, ethnic minorities including Hmong, Phu La, Black Dzao, Tay, and Nung gather here to trade their homemade products. This is a unique opportunity to observe their vibrant culture, traditional attire, and daily interactions. Explore the market and perhaps find a lovely gift or two among the array of eye-catching handmade products.
Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, savoring the authentic flavors of Vietnamese cuisine.
Afternoon:
Drive to Trung Do Village: In the afternoon, we drive downhill towards Lao Cai. En route, we stop to take a short walk to Trung Do village, home to the Tay people. Tay villages are typically situated at the foot of mountains or along streams and are named after nearby geographical features. Each village contains about 15-20 households, with large villages divided into smaller hamlets. Experience the tranquil beauty of the village, visit a traditional Tay house, and enjoy a cup of tea with the locals.
Boat Cruise on the Chay River: After exploring Trung Do village, embark on a relaxing boat cruise upstream the Chay River. The scenic beauty on both sides of the river is truly captivating, providing a peaceful end to your day of exploration. The boat trip concludes at Bao Nhai bridge, where your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Lao Cai.
End of Tour: Return to Lao Cai and reflect on the day’s rich experiences and memorable interactions with the local communities.
Note: In case the water level is too low for a boat trip, you will have the option to take a buffalo cart ride in Trung Do village instead.
